Baltimore County’s Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, will be held in the heart of the downtown Towson shopping corridor at the newly dedicated Olympic Park on the corner of York Road and Allegheny Avenue.
“This downtown Towson location helps remind people of the benefits of shopping in Baltimore County’s historic neighborhood shopping districts – especially for the holidays,” said Baltimore County Executive Jim Smith. Participating retail shops and restaurants in the core area will be offering specials, holiday sales and discounts during the evening and encouraging people to Shop Towson First, for the Holidays!
Kamenetz will preside over the official tree lighting. Members of the Baltimore County Council, and the Towson Chamber of Commerce will help lead the festivities. The event is co-sponsored by the Towson Chamber of Commerce, Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz, Sheraton Baltimore North, Baltimore County Council and the Baltimore County Revenue Authority. Lite fm 101.9 will be on hand to serve as emcee for the evening activities.
Santa and Mrs. Claus, on their fire engine down Allegheny Avenue to Ridgely & Ferrens where they will sit and meet with children to hear their gift requests. Parents should bring their own cameras if they’d like photos of their children on Santa’s lap.
